A wonderful book about finding the beauty in imperfect relationships

banner-cloud6.jpg

Hello and Happy New Year to my readers:

My friend, bestselling author and relationship expert Arielle Ford, is the author of Wabi Sabi Love and The Soumate Secret. Her beautiful book, Wabi Sabi Love, teaches a path to healing in our relationships based upon the ancient Japanese artform which, in Arielle's words, "Honors all things old, weathered, imperfect and impermanent by finding the beauty and perfection in the imperfections."

Wabi Sabi Love has been helpful and inspiring for me in my own intimacy journey, and, with the release of her book in paperback, Arielle is offering a series of free videos about the Wabi Sabi apporach to love.

Here's a link to receive her videos for free:

John Gottman, a psychologist out in Seattle has devoted the last 40
years of his life to studying comitted couples.  His research has shown something powerful: there's a "magic ratio" for couples who've been together for a long time, who still like each other and being
around each other.

The "magic ratio" is that, for these successful couples, there is an average of five positive interchanges for every negative one. Arielle teaches how to work with the annoying, troubling and difficult qualities you find in your loved one, and learn to see the beauty in them, and in the love that exists around those trouble spots. I love Arielle's work, ( and I know that Arielle really tries to live her vision) so I wanted to share this with you.

I hope you enjoy them, and I send you all my best! ( P.s. I'm not reimbursed in any way for sharing this link with you!)

Here it is again:

Finding our gifts within our flaws--and a reminder about "The Wiser Path to Love"

banner-cloud6.jpg
Hello and a very happy New Year to all my readers! May this year be one of growing intimacy with yourself and the world.

I hope you enjoy my new Psychology Today post "How to Discover the Core Gifts Within our Deepest Wounds."  If you enjoy this post, I invite you to forward or share by clicking the above links. Thank you so much for following my work!

Also, I wanted to remind you that my new "Wiser Path to Love" teleclass series begins this Thursday--and I'd love to have you join us.

How to Discover Our Core Gifts Within Our Wounds

On this first day of the New Year, I’d like to share a counter-intuitive approach to human change that I find tremendously exciting. Here is its central idea: Our deepest wounds frequently spring from our greatest gifts, and until we acknowledge these gifts, our wounds will often resist their own healing,

Holiday wishes for you--through a poem

banner-cloud6.jpg

Hello to all my readers:

Wherever you may be, and whatever is going on in your life now, I want to send you my wishes for a holiday season and New Year filled with connection and intimacy. I'd love to share that wish through one of my favorite poems.

Many years ago, camping in the Wind River Mountains on Wyoming, my friends and I found ourselves in the midst of a memorable sunshower. It was summertime, and we were on a sloping meadow. Half the sky was black and  dark, while half was bright and sunny. Sunlight beamed down on us as we got soaked by a gentle rain. It felt like...life. One friend was moved to share this peice of a poem by TS Eliot.

"You bring me news
Of a door that opens at the end of a corridor,
Sunlight and singing;
when I had felt sure

That every corridor only led to another,
Or to a blank wall; that I kept moving
Only so as not to stay still.
Singing and light."

—From The Family Reunion by T.S. Eliot

In your journey toward love, if you keep sharing your true heart, and building your life with those precious people who treasure you for who you are, doors will open. Somehow, they just will. Out of nowhere, sometimes. I'm so thankful for those doors, and for all the possibilities behind them.

This year to come, we'll all hit moments of doorless halls, of frustrating corridor upon corridor (Hey! That sounds a lot like the world of dating!) Yet the more time we decide to spend in inspiring relationships, the more we'll find doors that can--and will--change our futures.

Here's to all the wonderful new doors to come in your year ahead!

With much care
Ken

The Healing Gift of Non-Gratitude/Psychology Today

banner-cloud6.jpg
Hello to all my readers!

I hope you enjoy my new Psychology Today post. I've wanted to write this for a very long time.  If you enjoy this post, I invite you to forward or share by clicking the above links. Thank you so much for following my work!

Also, I wanted to remind you that today is the last day to receive a discount for registering for my new "Wiser Path to Love" teleclass series.

The Healing Gift of Non-Gratitude

Cultivating gratitude is a wonderful thing, but forced gratitude clouds our judgment, and usually mutates into self-recrimination. We’re all exhorted to feel gratitude, but who teaches us to honor feelings of non-gratitude: emptiness, longing, or a gut-level sense that something’s wrong? These feelings hold half the key for achieving our most precious life-goals

I am in awe of how you work, the way you can follow essence down to some key source of love/healing/wounds/gifts.

It's a very healing teaching approach and the content is superb, insightful, spiritual, and gentle.

This teleseminar has created a huge shift for me.  It has replaced fear, self-judgment and confusion with understanding and consciousness.  I now understand why the relationships I had always turned out the same way, but most importantly, I understand how to move forward and find a partner who is a real fit for the real me.

I am absolutely thrilled to tell you that I have met the most amazing man. It is very early, but he legitimately seems to be the man for whom I have been waiting for a very long time.
